SLC and SLD - Experimental Experience with a Linear Collider
نویسنده
چکیده
The SLAC Linear Collider (SLC) is the prototype e+elinear collider. This talk will consist of an introduction to SLC, a description of the strategy for luminosity, a description of the systems for the transport and measurement of the polarized electroqt and a description of the present performance of the SLC and planned upgrades. The detector, SLD, and the status of the polarization asymmetry measurement ALR will be described.

Review of Slc Performance*
The SLAC Linear Collider (SLC) has begun a new era of operation with the SLD detector. During 1991 there was a first engineering run for the SLD in parallel with machine impravements to increase luminosity and reliability. For the 1992 run; a polarized electron source was added and more than 10,OOOZ~with an average of 23% polarization have been logged by the SLD. This paper will discuss the per...
متن کاملExtrapolating Experience Gained with the Sld Detector to Higher Energy And/or Luminosity
The operation of the SLD detector at the SLC, the only existing high energy linear col-lider, is a good place to address the question of the feasibility of operating a sophisticated cylindrical geometry detector in a high energy and/or luminosity environment. Performance aspects of the SLD relevant to this question are presented, along with a qualitative discussion about the extrapolation to hi...
متن کاملFirst Results from Sld with Polarized Electron the Sld Collaboration
The SLAC Linear Collider (SLC) has been modified to collide a longitudinally polarized electron beam with the unpolarized positron beam. We review the beginning of polarized beam running at the SLC, and report on the measurement of the left-right cross section asymmetry (ALR) made with a sample of 10,224 Z decays collected over the course of the 1992 run. The average beam polarization for this ...
متن کاملThe Polarized Electron Source of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center*
The Stanford Linear Accelerator has been running with polarized electrons both in the collider (SLC) mode and in the fixed target mode. The accelerator's polarized electron source is based on a thin, strained GaAs photocathode, which is held at a negative high voltage and illuminated by a Titanium Sapphire laser. The reliability of the source was better than 95% during the eight-month-long 1993...
متن کاملMeasurements of Z 0 Electroweak Couplings at SLD ∗
We present a summary of the results of several electroweak measurements performed by the SLD experiment at the Stanford Linear Collider (SLC). Most of these results are preliminary and are based, unless otherwise indicated, on the full 1993-8 data set of approximately 550,000 hadronic decays of Z 0 bosons produced with an average electron beam polarization of 73%.
